Last updated: December 17, 2024
1. Introduction
QR-Rescue ("we," "our," or "us") operates from Victoria, Australia. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services at www.qr-rescue.com.au.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of personal information:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Order Information: Shipping address, billing address, and contact phone number to fulfill your orders.
- Payment Information: Payment details are processed securely by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full credit card number.

- Communications: Messages you send through our contact form or customer support.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use our website, including pages visited and features used.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- To process and fulfill your orders
- To provide and maintain your QR-Rescue account and tags
- To facilitate communication between finders and tag owners (via our Privacy Proxy)
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- To send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates)
- To send marketing communications (only with your consent)
- To improve our website and services

4. How We Protect Your Identity (Privacy Proxy)
A core feature of QR-Rescue is our Privacy Proxy. When someone finds an item with your QR tag and scans it, they are never shown your personal contact details.
Instead, finders see a secure "Found Item" form where they can leave a message and their contact information. This message is relayed to you through our secure system. You then choose whether and how to respond.
5. Disclosure of Information
We may disclose your personal information to:
- Service Providers: Third-party companies that help us operate our business (payment processing, email delivery, website hosting). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
- Finders (Limited): Only the message content you choose to share when responding to a found item notification.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government authority.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Overseas Disclosure
Some of our service providers may store data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. These providers are bound by strict data protection agreements and maintain security standards equivalent to Australian requirements.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This includes:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Secure authentication systems
- Regular security reviews
- Limited staff access to personal information
8. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@qr-rescue.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Order records are retained for 7 years to comply with Australian tax and business record requirements. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
10. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses cookies to improve your experience and analyse website usage. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use our site, but this data is anonymised and does not personally identify you.
